Who are Sydney Veterans Tennis?
We are a group of men and women veteran (ie over 40) players who play tennis three days a week at the Lane Cove Tennis Club, Central Park, Longueville. There are five synthetic grass courts. We play eight game sets of doubles.

What times do we play?
Our playing days are Mondays and Wednesdays from 9.00 am until the early afternoon, and on Fridays from 11.30 until mid-afternoon.

Do I have to come on time?
No. We start play at the times mentioned above. Players are free to arrive from those times onward and, of course, to leave whenever they want.

How much does it cost?
We charge players $6 a day, or players can elect to pay $280 for the whole year. This amount includes tea and coffee, use of the clubhouse, and new balls which are provided at the start of each playing day.

What is the standard of play?
We cater for players of an intermediate or higher standard of play.

What is my commitment to attend?
There is no commitment. Players can come along as often or as rarely as they want. The number of players on any given day fluctuates depending on weather, time of year, school holidays and so on. Typically, we would have 20 to 30 players, sometimes more, sometimes less.

How are players matched?
One of the Committee members will organise play and allocate courts. We mix up the foursomes as much as we can, while at the same time trying to ensure that foursomes are well matched and that all players get good competitive tennis.

Are newcomers welcome?
Absolutely. We encourage newcomers to come along and try out. New players are given a trial period (normally one or two days) to see if their skills are a good fit for the group. We take into account that new players may be a bit rusty, and nervous.

Is there parking?
There is plenty of free parking in the streets adjacent to the courts.

What else do I need to know?
All players play entirely at their own risk. Players must read the material on the “Disclaimer” page.
