FAQs

We are a group of men and women who play tennis three days a week at the Lane Cove Tennis Club, Central Park, Longueville, near the corner of Kenneth St and Longueville Rd. There are five synthetic grass courts.

What times do we play?

We play on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.00 am. We have the courts hired until 11.30 am but may finish earlier, depending on the number of players.

Do I have to come on time?

No, there is no strict starting time.

How much does it cost?

We charge players $10 a day, or players can elect to pay $300 for the whole year. This amount includes tea and coffee, use of the clubhouse, and new balls which are provided at the start of each playing day.

What is the standard of play?

We cater for players of an intermediate or higher standard of play. We play eight game sets of doubles for as many sets as time and the players’ energy allow.

What is my commitment to attend?

There is no commitment. Players come along as often or as rarely as they want. The number of players on any given day fluctuates depending on weather, time of year, school holidays and so on.

Do I have to book?

No. No booking or advance notice is required. Just turn up.

How are players matched?

One of the committee members will organise players and allocate courts. We mix up the foursomes as much as we can, while at the same time trying to ensure that all players get good competitive tennis.

Are newcomers welcome?

Absolutely. We encourage newcomers to come along and try out. New players are given a trial period (normally one or two playing days) to see if their skills are a good fit for the group. We take into account that new players may be a bit rusty, and nervous.

Is there parking?

There is plenty of parking in the streets adjacent to the courts.

What else do I need to know?

All players play entirely at their own risk. Players must read the material on the “Risk and Liability” page.
